Greta Smidt, a 16-year-old high school sophomore from Lithuania who now lives in Georgia, is donating $7,000 for educational purposes to local charter school Lafayette Academy and another $5,000 to Warren Easton High School. Click here to read the full article.

COME ONE…COME ALL to the Super Success Store

Elementary School Grades (Pre K – 4th)

Students will receive Super Tickets from your teachers or administrators when you achieve the following at school. Parents can win tickets too!!

  • Perfect attendance for the week – 1 ticket
  • Good effort in academics – 1 ticket ( Maximum 5 a week)
  • Positive character – 1 ticket ( Maximum 5 a week) Student of the Week - 2 tickets

You may choose to spend your money weekly or save it up for larger incentive prizes. Negative behavior means loss of the privilege of redeeming tickets that week.

Middle School Grades(5-7)

  • Super Tickets may be accumulated for a “Homework Pass” or “Free Dress Pass” and gift cards.
  • Parents can earn tickets by attending events such as Open House and conferences which can be redeemed for gifts twice a year.

READ FOR THE RECORD

On Sept. 20, 2007, Lafayette participated in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, a national campaign designed to enourage children and adults to read the same book on the same day. Click here for more infomation and view images of the kids.

PARKING:
A reminder that when you are parking around the school please do not block any of the driveways in front of houses in the area surrounding the school, as this causes problems for our neighbors. Also, the cutoff area from Walmsley Street is for School Bus drop-off and pick up only. For the safety and security of your children, please do not drive on the playground when picking your child up after school. Thanks for your help!

SPECIAL EDUCATION:
As part of our ongoing Child Find program, if you have a child that you suspect may have especial education needs, please contact the Special Ed Team Leader, Dr. “K”, for further information on how we can help you. Also, if you have any documentation indicating your child has received SPED services in previous schools, please bring them to the school for our records and for us to examine and insure your child will receive the services he/she needs.
